Ben Creagh Cup – 15 Year Boys Rugby League

Despite having limited preparation owing to the huge amount of rain in Term 1 and Jordan Karakousis and Noah Hill ruled out through injury, the 15 boys played strongly in their 3 games.
We played Figtree High in game 1 and won comfortably. Declan Manago scored 2 solo tries and was a stand out in this game. A win 22-0?
In our second game we outclassed Woonona High with excellent second phase play and sweeping backline movements. Rory Green and Ben Byron were strong in the first half and were rested for the semi-final clash against Warilla. Holy Spirit defeated Woonona 24-0
In our semi final against (the eventual winners of the Ben Creagh cup) we came close to winning. Warilla were a well drilled outfit and had some excellent players but we matched it with them right until the end. In truth it could have gone either way. Penalties at crucial stages didn't help our cause given the game time was only 10 minutes each way. Brandon Morkos was a standout for us in this game. Final score Warilla 4 Holy Spirit 0
Special mention to Joe Duggan, Declan Manago and Brandon Morkos for stepping up an age division and being amongst the best players on the day
