Congratulations to the Open Girls soccer team on achieving the Silver Medal in this year’s CCC (Combined Catholic Colleges) competition.
In a closely contested and entertaining grand final the team were narrowly defeated 3 - 2 by Marist Sisters’ Woolwich. The girls displayed fantastic teamwork, skill and finesse to reach the final series.
Our forwards Keeley, Hannah and Raleigh constantly placed pressure on the defence with their speed and determination. Jenna, Sophie, Danika, Nina and Chelsea were dynamic in the midfield, initiating many wonderful attacking opportunities for our forwards whilst demonstrating poise in defence. Fullbacks Ashley, Soraya, Christina, Megan and Sarah were always well structured and determined, constantly supporting each other in defence. Goalie Emily displayed great agility and tenacity throughout the tournament.
Charlotte Bett and Madeline Collimore were unable to play in the final series but were a great asset to the team during the season.
The team were always great ambassadors for the College and a testament to the skill and creativity of girls’ soccer.
A special mention to our Year 12 students: Ashleigh Kotevski, Danika Matos and Sophie Heath who have been a driving force behind the success of the team over the years and an inspiration to the younger players!
